I will admit I liked the animal characters better than the humans, which is saying something since they don't speak. I liked that some of the main characters of the book were animals. I did have a hard time with the penguins ability to fly because they had heart and wanted to. Most of the regular conventions restricting animals in the real world were also restricting them in the book. Then Chick just decides to get rid of a well known tidbit about penguins inability to fly? Sure lets go with that. I really liked how endangered and extinct species were handled. I liked the idea that there have been people out there for hundreds of years who recoginzed what was happening and not only tried, but they were able to help.
